WHEN TO SELL
Sworders conduct auctions in each collecting category at our purpose-built auction room. A specialist will discuss with you the most appropriate sale to ensure the strongest bidding for your item(s).
CONSIGNING YOUR PROPERTY
The consignment agreement sets out your terms and conditions upon which Sworders will offer your item(s) for sale at auction. Our specialists will suggest a catalogue estimate range and discuss any reserve we recommend.
Sworders generally charge the seller a vendor’s commission of 17.5% of the hammer price plus VAT and sale-related expenses (see below for photography costs). Our specialists will be happy to discuss these charges with you at the time of consignment.
After the auction, Sworders will notify the seller as to the status of each lot offered for sale. As we hold several different types of auctions throughout the year, the notification and payment for each auction are detailed below.

NOTIFICATION AND PAYMENT DETAILS PER AUCTION
Fortnightly Antiques & Collectables sale
An email will be sent on the afternoon of the auction informing you of your results, and a cheque and statement (if successful) just 8 days after the auction.
Post sale results can be found on our website on the afternoon of the auction.
Country House and Specialist Sales
- A letter or email will be sent at least 10 days before the auction confirming your entry and any pre-agreed reserve prices
- On the afternoon of the auction, an email will be sent informing you of your results, or a letter within 4 working days
- A cheque and statement (if successful) will be sent 21 days after the auction
- Post sale results can be found on our website on the afternoon of the auction.
