Testimonial from Peter Cornwell
I thank you for your personal service and advice and the fact that Sworders keep in contact and are prompt with their valuations, informing me of the date of the auction and the hammer prices on the very same day.
Testimonial from a vendor
What is our history?
The Sworders’ story began in a Bishop’s Stortford coffee shop in 1782 with local businessman Mr Peter Ramsey. The company he founded grew into a broad-based practice providing advice in fields as diverse as agriculture, residential property and commercial buildings.
More than 200 years later, the company now focuses exclusively on fine art and antiques. In 2008, we opened a new and exciting chapter in our history by moving to purpose-built, environmentally-friendly, auction room with 21st century facilities, essential in today’s fast moving and technologically driven marketplace.
Where are we located?
Sworders headquarters are located in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex with a consignment office in Hertford. The company has consultants all around the UK and has a long-standing tradition of specialist knowledge of the highest degree.
Sworders specialists conduct continual research within their fields in order to grow as specialists, as well as provide the best possible service to our clients.
How can I sell via Sworders?
Sworders have been providing specialist valuations for auction since 1782.
With over 40 auctions held each year, Sworders are able to offer a quick turnaround for your goods. High prices are often realised by connecting the right buyers to the right product both nationally and Internationally.
What associations does Sworders belong to?
Sworders are part of SOFAA.
SOFAA is the only professional body exclusively representing fine art auctioneers and valuers in the UK.
The Society was formed in 1973 to provide a professional body for specialist firms throughout the United Kingdom. The membership includes leading provincial specialist auctioneers.
The Society aims to provide guidance to its members to ensure the highest possible standards of practice in all regards, and encouragement and reassurance to clients that their best interests will be served at all times.
