Condition Report

General knocks, marks and surface wear commensurate with age and use. Some chips, knocks and losses to lacquer and japanning, particularly to the sides. Traces of a small amount of recent woodworm damage to one leg, which has been treated. Evidence of repair, restoration and alteration, with some later timbers including probably the legs and scrolled apron, suggesting that the top and base may also be associated. Split and repair to top. Decoration looks in large part to be later, however the period parts of the chest may have originally been lacquered or painted. Metalware appears to have been off. Some wear and splits to interior of the drawers, which run smoothly. Joints sound and solid and perfectly usable in its current condition. Please see the extensive additional photos for further reference to condition.

Buying a pre-loved, antique, or vintage item not only provides you with unique style and value for money but it also helps to reduce landfill, and the annual emissions of an antique or vintage piece can be as little as one sixteenth of those of its new equivalent!
