A group of six small classical pottery vessels

comprising:
a pair of miniature red figure lekythoi, c.4th century BC, Greek from South Italy, each decorated with a woman of fashion,
6cm high,
an Attic black figure mastos, c.5th-4th century BC, painted with a satyr and reclining figures,
7cm wide,
a squat pattern lekythos, c.4th century, BC, with net decoration,
8.2cm high,
an Attic black figure kylix, c.5th century BC, decorated with figures to a white ground,
9.1cm wide, and
a Boeotian trefoil-lipped chous, c.5th century BC, decorated with a black running figure to a red ground,
9.5cm high (6)

Provenance: The collection of the late Sir Clinton Charles Donald Cory, 5th Baronet of Coryton;
the pair of lekythoi acquired by the above from The Old Drury Lane, London, 25 March 1987, the mastos from Sotheby's 14 December 1982, the squat lekythos from James Chesterman, 21 July 1994, the kylix from The Old Drury Lane, London, 20 December 1983, and the chous from Charles Ede Ltd., 25 November 1985.

The Collection of the late Sir Clinton Charles Donald Cory


The Fine Interiors department feel privileged to offer a private collection of Antiquities from the late Sir Clinton Charles Donald Cory, 5th Baronet of Coryton, in our March sale.

Cory was a lifelong aesthete and a collector of objets d’art and antiquities, in particular Attic pottery and numismatics, and revelled in meticulously cataloguing and archiving his collection. The selection of pottery, glass and stone fragments will be sold in twenty-four lots, with many coming with provenance from leading dealerships and auction houses such as Charles Ede, Sotheby's and Bonhams.

Condition Report
Overall all six are in good and stable condition with no obvious signs of restoration. Threre is some wear to the interior of the kylix. Some rubbing and loss to the black decoration to the two red-figure lekythoi, one with a historic chip to the foot and the other with wear to the foot. The net lekythos with flea bite to rim and slight wear to black decoration. All with Cory provenance labels to the undersides. Please see additional photos for reference.
