A Chinese sancai-glazed cup,
Tang dynasty (618-907), after a metal shape, the rounded sides rising from an everted foot to a flared rim, flanked by a single loop handle to the side, decorated with amber, green and straw glazes falling short of the foot to reveal the unglazed body, with a partial paper label to the base reading 'RAUFAST, 18, Rue La Boétie, 295',

Dr Jonathan Broido (1941-2008) was a professor of mathematics and philosophy. He received his PhD from the University of Pittsburgh and lectured in the US, Israel and the UK, in philosophy, mathematics, AI and interdisciplinarity. He was also an avid collector and lecturer on antiques and rugs - known in particular for his expertise and love of Asian ceramics and rare and archaic Turkoman weavings. He travelled throughout Asia acquiring pieces, as well as making finds in London's antique markets and the US.
