South Asian Art

Sworders Auctioneers are delighted to announce the introduction of a dedicated South Asian section within its bi-annual Asian Art sales. This new focus will showcase high-quality South Asian works of art, paintings, metalwork, ceramics, glass, wood, stone, and textiles, spanning from the early ancient to the modern-day period.

Already well established, Sworders’ Asian Art sales are a cornerstone of the international auction calendar and are fully previewed at Sworders London Gallery, located in the heart of the capital. These previews coincide with Asian Art Week in London, attracting leading dealers, collectors, and institutions from around the world. From Myanmar (Burma) to Thailand to Indonesia, our auctions have long featured superb and finely crafted works from across Asia. The introduction of a dedicated South Asian section ensures these works receive the focused attention and enhanced visibility they deserve.

Highlights have included a Thai bronze figure of the Buddha from the highly anticipated Paul Atkinson | The Nomadic Collector auction, which achieved £2,600, a large Burmese (Myanmar) carved wood and lacquered figure of Shakyamuni Buddha, which sold for £4,940, and a contemporary work by Vietnamese artist Tran Luu Hau titled Banana Garden, which realised £13,000.

Sworders offer a fully bespoke service from initial consultation through to final sale, including expert valuations, comprehensive condition reporting, seamless payment facilitation, and international shipping solutions, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for consignors and buyers alike.
