Son of Great Bardfield icon Edward Bawden, Richard studied painting, print-making and graphic design at Chelsea, St. Martin’s and the Royal College of Art. His work has a graphic and linear quality, often drawn from life, depicting scenes of domesticity, especially his beloved cats. Based in Suffolk, Richard had held over 50 one man exhibition at home and abroad, including a major retrospective at Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury. He is represented in royal public and private collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum and The Tate Gallery and the Ashmolean Museum.
