From Gown to Gavel | The late Baron John Mauger Langin
The Homes & Interiors Department are delighted to present the Personal Collection of the late Baron John Mauger Langin.
Formerly a barrister, John traded his gown and wig for a life on the road as an antiques dealer. Based in the picturesque Oxfordshire village of Piddington, John set up R.A Barnes Antiques from his home, having spent 45 years trading on Portobello Market and his former shop in Putney.
The lots in our Homes & Interiors sale reflect John's style and taste. Wedgwood became a major focus of his collecting habits, with the sale including over 40 lots. Alongside the Jasperware feature many other pieces of fine porcelain and decorative arts, such as Herend, Lalique and Grand Tour panels.
Sworders and John's family hope the new owners will enjoy the pieces as much as John did.
