Zimeng joined the picture department in 2023. She completed a History of Art MA in at the Courtauld Institute of Art in 2023, where she specialised in late antiquity, Byzantine and Islamic Art. Prior to her time in the UK, Zimeng earned her first MA in religious studies from a joint program at the universities of Copenhagen, Lund, and Oslo, and furthered her studies in philosophy at the University of Bologna. It was during her time in Italy that she developed a profound interest in material culture and religious art.
Zimeng has gained valuable front-of-house experience working at prestigious institutions such as the Courtauld Gallery, Sir John Soane’s Museum, and St. Paul’s Cathedral. Her passion for religious art spans from intricate personal devotional items to grand mosaics and architectural wonders, encompassing both Eastern and Western traditions. She has a particular fascination with figurative art and admires the diverse visual languages that artists use to portray the human form. Zimeng is fluent in both Chinese and Italian.
